The installation program creates both a Start Menu icon (in the Programs group) and a desktop icon for launching the program. These icons are associated with a shortcut which should invoke the program. This shortcut is of a special type (called an "advertised shortcut") that uses newer Microsoft Installer (MSI) technology. In theory, this should make the installation and operation of the program more fool-proof, but if something goes wrong (for example, your system is missing some of the MSI libraries), then you might find that clicking on the icon doesn’t start the program, but rather produces an error message or just does nothing. If this happens, make your own desktop icon for launching the program:
1. Right click on your desktop (the background of your screen), and select New Shortcut.
2. Enter, as the command line, the following string (including double-quotes, as shown):
"C:\Program Files\AMPR\cgpp.exe" –nz AMPRLookup.dll
3. Enter, as the name for the shortcut:

Try double-clicking the newly made icon to see if it launches the program. If it does, you can delete the previous (non-working) desktop icon. If the new icon still does not start the program, contact user support at the e-mail or phone number shown on the back of the CD-ROM installation instructions booklet (in the jewel case in which the CD-ROM was shipped).
