Quick Start – A short tutorial for the AMPR Electronic Edition

This Quick Start gives a brief introduction to the AMPR Electronic Edition. The tutorial – which will take less than 30 minutes complete – will familiarize you with the basics, by taking you through three examples of the kind of searches you are likely to want to make. These searches are quite straightforward.

These examples don’t show all of the capabilities of the program. When you have gone through the tutorial and become familiar with the basics, you can go on to explore some of the advanced customization choices that are available. You can always go to the on-line Help to find a full description of all of the program’s features.

The following examples assume that you have started the program running, and that the program’s main window is displayed on your computer screen. This window is the program’s Search Screen, and what you specify here will determine which records from the AMPR database the program will retrieve for you.

Note: It is best to use the software and to actually perform these searches, right along with reading them in the tutorial. (The database on your CD-ROM may have been augmented with new data since these examples were written, so the results you see may differ somewhat. In particular, searches which are described as returning a certain number of matching records may, in fact, return more when you run them.)
