When you click on the List button for the Map-Maker, Reference, or Dealer fields, a dialog pops up which lets you select from a list, rather than having to type in an entry.
The appearance of the List dialog that appears when you click a List button depends upon whether there is already text present in the associated text box. If the text box is empty, the List dialog will appear as shown in the following figure (the List dialog for choosing a Map-Maker is given in this example):

After selecting the name from the drop-down list, click on the Select button, and the name will be put into the text box for you. If the name consists of more than one word, double-quotes will be placed around the set of words.
If the text box already has text in it, then the buttons on the List dialog will be a little different, and the dialog will look as follows:

After selecting the name from the drop-down list, click either:
· Replace the previous contents of the text box will be erased and will be replaced by the value chosen from the list.
· Add (with OR) the choice made from the list will be added to what is already in the text box, with a connecting OR between them.
You can type the initial characters of a name to automatically scroll the list to a matching entry. Some names appear in variant spellings in the list, to ease to task of locating them by typing. Van Linschoten, for example, is also present as "LINSCHOTEN, VAN", so if you type L-I-N-S the list will find the matching entry. When you click to place the selected entry into the text box, the program may re-order the words so that the form of the name actually used in the database is selected. So even though the list shows "LINSCHOTEN, VAN", when you click Select, Replace, or Add, "VAN LINSCHOTEN" will be what is deposited into the text box.
